The cinema part of the festival, which took place in eight cities, gathered a total of 89,223 participants (compared to 74,446 in 2022):

GDYNIA: 7,068 participants (compared to 6,630 in 2022)

KATOWICE: 2,852 participants (compared to 2,820 in 2022)
ŁÓDŹ: 609 participants (compared to 1,716 in 2022)
LUBLIN: 740 participants (compared to 504 in 2022)

60,2% of the festival’s viewers are Promoters (people who would definitely recommend the brand to others), 24,5% are Passives and 15,3% are Detractors.
The Net Promoter Score is an index that measures the customer’s satisfaction with the brand and their willingness to recommend it to others. Respondents are asked questions and based on their answers three types of customers are selected: Promoters of the brand, Detractors and Passives. Every result above 30 is considered to be good.

65.9% of the respondents were women, 29.5% were men, 1.5% identified as non-binary, and 2.3% of the respondents declined to answer.
The largest groups of participants were individuals aged 26-35 (21.71%) and those above 56 years old (27.91%).
90.9% of the respondents reside in cities with a population exceeding 500,000 inhabitants.
87.1% of the surveyed individuals have higher education; 40.9% work full-time, 20.5% are freelancers, 9.8% are students.

Everything started with Millennium Docs Against Gravity, the biggest film festival in Poland. In 2020, a memorable year, the festival introduced a hybrid formula: over 100 films were presented online after the cinema edition. Its tremendous success served as further proof that it was time to create a new place on the Web for the most interesting documentaries and feature films—a place where anyone could broaden their knowledge of our reality, look upon other people with tenderness, and discover the most pressing problems of the modern world.
We favor diversity of subjects, which is why our catalogue features plenty of movies about politics, the society, psychology, science, sport, art, architecture, and fashion. Feature films available on our platform are mainly art-house pictures that push the boundaries of contemporary cinematic language.
We have great hopes about the future! In addition to the hybrid formula, retained for the 2024 Festival, in December 2020 we launched a permanent VOD platform: VOD.MDAG.PL, which hosts the best documentaries from the previous editions of Millennium Docs Against Gravity as well as art-house features. This way the festival became a year-round event, constantly carrying out its key goals: popularising film culture, educating about documentary filmmaking, and—most importantly—reaching the widest possible audience with interesting, moving, and wise stories.
